Dua 18 This is the supplication of Hazrat Nuh (A.S.). To remain steadfast on the straight path, seek this dua :
(Surah Hud (11), Verse 47)

Rabbi inneee a’oozu bika an as’alaka maa laisa lee bihee ‘ilmunw wa illaa taghfir lee wa tarhamneee akum minal khaasireen.

My Lord, I seek refuge in You from asking You about what I have no knowledge of, and unless You forgive me and have mercy on me, I will be one of the losers.

(Surah Hud (11), Verse 47)

Hazrat Nuh (A.S.) preached to his people for 950 years, but they rejected faith and persisted in disobedience. Allah sent a flood as punishment, commanding the few believers to board the Ark.
One of his sons was disobedient. He did not board the ship, saying: "I will climb that high mountain instead." But the punishment's waters reached the mountain's height. As his son began to drown, Prophet Nuh (A.S.) pleaded: "My Lord! Certainly my son is ˹also˺ of my family, Your promise is surely true, and You are the most just of all judges!" (Surah Hud (11), Verse 45)
When Hazrat Nuh (A.S.) recited the dua from verse 45 (mentioned above), Allah responded: "Indeed, he is not truly your son, not for he disobeyed Allah's command. Thus he deserved the punishment. This makes it clear that even the offspring of prophets or messengers, if they disobey Allah, cannot be considered as part of the prophet's lineage." Immediately, Prophet Nuh (A.S.) then prayed the dua from Surah Hud verse 47.
Our knowledge is limited (it is insufficient). In good times and bad, we must continually seek Allah's mercy through dua, so that the Creator of the Universe may always keep us firmly upon the straight path.
